new router fixed my slow my data transfer speeds

I've been living with a relatively slow internet connection for over a year without knowing it. When I moved here I had FiOS 50/50 installed. I didn't realize a big boost in speed compared to what I had before. But up until a month ago, I had been a light user. Only occasionally connecting a tablet or phone through Wi-Fi. I got a new computer lately and started transferring files via FiOS from a very fast and reliable remote server. I knew right away something was wrong.

To make a long story short the problem turned out to be the wireless router. At the time of installation, the router was actually an old model. I had no way of knowing this because the Verizon "My Services" page said I had a more capable piece of equipment. Besides being dated hardware, it evidentially wasn't working as well as it should have. Here, we willl fast forward through the processes of rectifing the issue to receiving the new router.

I am happy to report that considering the variables, I am getting the speeds I was expecting. To confirm this the speed and diagnosic reports are awsome. Doubled the download speed of the old router connected by wire from <25 to >50. Better than 7X the speed connected by Wi-Fi from <7 to >50.

It took considerable effort to resolve but it was worth finding out if these incredible speeds are achievable. And, they are.

Thanks for reading.
