Decided to create a new post for this...
I currently have a 50/50 FIOS setup using the Quantum G1100 together with the FIOS extender via MoCa. I have it currently setup using the same SSID's for upstairs and downstairs for 2.4G & 5G. (FIOS router downstairs in laundry room and FIOS extender upstairs in media room) Our household generally uses macs and iOs devices with a few work PCs.
The attached picture is from a MAC program called iStumbler and it basically describes the network strengths to wherever you are. Here's the rub... At select times it tries to connect back to the weakest signal... Since the downstairs 5G signal is terrible even when I'm right next to it, should I just turn the downstairs 5G radio off? Should I try to lower the transmit power upstairs so they calibrate more? I know, firstworld pains right? Any other ideas?
