Greeting Verizon and Contributers,
2 weeks ago I was having an issue with my internet. After countless amounts of phone calls I finally got a technician out to replace the modem between my quantum router and the rj-11 port in my apartment.
We are now experiencing the same problem again. The internet will randomly drop out every 1-2 minutes. I opened up 3 command prompts with my ethernet cord from my computer directly hooked into the router and had a continous ping test running on the following
- Quantum Router
- The Modem
- The main building box (outside of my apartment)
It seems that this second modem can't keep a connection with the main building box on the VDSL line in the building.
I performed this test mutliple times wirelessly, wired, different ethernet cords while wired, on all of our devices in the house AND directly plugged into the modem. I am still getting the same issue. 72.xx.xx.1 (main building box) cannot be reached. In the bottom right command prompt while pinging the main building box it will drop out with "Request Timed Out" and then 71.xx.xx.95 (my modem) will send back a response for me in this window with "Destination Host uncreachable."
Keep in mind the Verizon tech already came and replaced the modem. The quantum router isn't the issue as seen above. It's something with the building's box or the wiring.
What is the next step? The verizon call centers are going to have me sit there and power cycle the modem and router countless amounts of times. I understand that it does fix most issues but I have done it multiple times this morning with no fix for the outcome.
