I use OpenDNS for my network to leverage their Web content filtering for my whole home network.
I recently upgraded to the Verizon Gateway G1100 router for the better hardware specs. Mostly I've been pleased; however, there appears to be one important thing that I could do with the old ActionTec that I can no longer do with the G1100--prevent circumventing the use of OpenDNS as our DNS, as described in this article.
In their apparent efforts to make configuring the firewall "easier" for novices, it seems complete control over firewall rules has been removed. I can only specify ports and time frames for blocking. As far as I can tell, it is not possible to do what I am looking to do with the new router's software.
Am I missing something? If not, how can I request that they add back in the advanced firewall management?
TIA.
