Fios internet + tv - is coax required to the router?

i'm in the process of remodeling the area which i currently have Coax running from the ONT to the router in another room.

i'm thinking about running ethernet from the ONT to the router before sealing up the walls..

is it necessary to keep the coax as well for the STB's?

or does the ONT bridge the Coax and ethernet?

i'll likely just wind up leaving both so you could switch back to the local cable provider if needed in the future but i wasn't sure if it was really necessary to connect the coax if you have ethernet run to the router.
