Slow speed out of the extender after gigabit connection upgrade

$

Hi.  I have the Quantum gateway router G1100 and I recently upgraded to the gigabit connection plan.  The speed out of the ethernet port of the router is ~900 MBps.  However, I also have a Fios WiFi extender upstairs connected to a coax connection thru the wall.  And when I tested the speed of the wired connection of one of the ethernet port out of the extender, I only got ~400 MBps.  Is that because MoCA thru the coax cut down the speed?  Would upgrading my router (and extender) to G3100 give me close to 1GBps upstairs?  Thanks.

Hi, I have an older fios router serial no: MI424WR. I got a upper version of router model Z1100, that i am trying to connect.

Do i have to worry about any issues?

All i think i have to do is unplug the older one, connect the newer Z1100. and the reset the WPS switch, and update with my own personal id and pwd.

is this correct? I hope i do not encounter any connection issues.

pls. advise any specifics I have to watch for.

Thnx.

Red fail light on ONT box

Fios randomly went out last night, I’ve tried everything. (Rebooting, unplugging) still comes back on red. Does this mean my ONT box failed or a deeper issue outside down the line somewhere??

Fios installation delay ridiculous!

Last week I saw a FIOS advertisement to upgrade my current internet to Gigabit speed. So I clicked on the ad and purchased the upgraded plan. This includes rental of a special new modem/router. So far so good...

But... the next day, I got a notification that my installation date is just 246 days away! November 30, 2020 to be exact! This is really insane and beyond words!

Yes, I understand that there is a virus going around. But when I called the FIOS help line, I assured them that I can install the new router/modem myself and they can mail me the router/modem.

They told me that the technician needs access into the basement to do the upgrade to the ONT box. The basement in my building is completely empty and nobody goes into that room where the ONT box is rarely. It only happens if someone installs a new FIOS or Optimum service, and that has not happened at all in over 4 years since I have been living here.

So if the technician could just do this, he could wear a full mask and gloves; I can have the room unlocked and give him directions on the phone on where to walk to locate the ONT box.. or I can draw him a map.. or I can take photos showing where it is.. or give him a video walkthrough..

But instead, they just freak out for no reason and now lots of customers including me are now trapped on slow internet speeds until the end of November... 8 months from now.

If they cant install an upgrade in such a safe and isolated basement, then they really need to stop all advertisements on the internet, FIOS website, social media, billboards on the highways, radio, TV, print and anywhere else UNTIL they can agree to start installing upgrades again in a reasonable amount of time, which should be around 2 to 4 business days and not 249 days.

Use G1100 and G3100 together

I have Fios TV and internet.  My ONT is located outside the house and cat5e comes into the basement to a central hub/panel.  Currently I have the G3100 connected in the basement hub/panel with one cat5e connected into the WAN port and three cat5e connected in the LAN ports to provide wired connections throughout the house.  I would like to move the G3100 from the basement, up to the main level, to provide better WiFi to the main and upstairs levels. I was thinking about connecting my G1100 router in the basement hub/panel, configured in bridge mode, with DHCP turned off, and all cat5e cables connected to the LAN ports.  Place my G3100 on the main floor and connect an Ethernet cable from an active cat5e wall outlet to the WAN port of the G3100.  Will this solution work? Is there a better solution?

Test ONT ethernet port

Can I connect an ethernet cable from my laptop directly to the ONT ethernet port to see if I have an active connection? I ordered gigabit service, but have not received my "upgrade kit" nor activation code yet. Delays due to Covid 19 and telephone technical support is over 1hr wait.

I just got a fios wcb6200q extender and it doesn’t seem to be copying my network settings. Instead, it is still broadcasting its own network. Anyone have any advice?

Ring doorbell issue with Wifi 6

I currently own a Samsung galaxy note 10 + and have the new Verizon Fios router G3100 with Wifi 6 connecting to my cell phone. The issue i am having is my Ring doorbell will not show any video and a message pops up with cell phone has a weak signal. Not sure where to start. Is it the Ring device? (it is a first generation Ring doorbell) or is it the Fios router?

I can see the Wifi 6 signal image on the cell phone and i did a speed test on the phone. The speeds are incredibly fast. Just looking for some direction on how to address the issue. Thx

ONT Ethernet and Coax

I want to switch my internet from Coax to Ethernet. If I connect the ethernet cable from the ONT to my Fios Quantum Router, and then call up to have them switch my internet from coax to ethernet, will that work?

Secondly, how will this affect my network extender? Do I also need an ethernet port connected to that or will coax still work? And if I need an ethernet port, does it need to stem from the router?

Lastly, my TV's are using coax, will changing the internet to ethernet have any impact on this?

The setup of my new G3100 Fios Home Router has gone smoothly except for finding the means of changing IPv4 DNS Addresses.

How can I change the currently assign IPv4 DNS servers at 71.252.0.12, 71.242.0.12 to Cisco Umbrella OpenDNS policy, protection servers at 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 for this router, to be applied across my internal network?

Fios Setup fee

Hey,

When I placed the order, I was told that I won't be charged the 99 setup fee, but it still shows up on my bill. Also, I enrolled in autopsy and the discount is on my order email, but the statement shows the original plan amount.

I've been trying to call customer service for hours in the last 2 days, but no one is asking the phone. Is there any Verizon staff that could help with the issue?

Thanks,

I have the Quantum Gateway, and in it I have both the WAN Ethernet and coax plugged in. It seems that for some reason my desktop computer is using the internet via the coax, however other devices such as the ipad are able to connect to the internet via the WAN ethernet running from the router to the DNT. This is verified from speed tests, as the ipad managed to get well above 100 mbps, while the desktop only got about 60 mbps.

G3100: Guest wifi connects but doesn't receive internet

I just set up a G3100 router. The regular 2.4 and 5 GHz networks connect to the internet without any issues. I can connect to the Guest network, but the internet isn't reachable (in Windows 10: "No internet, secured"). The guest network is enabled, and the device is enabled. Any recommendations? I haven't found anything else in the admin interface that looks promising.

Can't connect to Synology via WebDAV on G3100 Modem/Router

I use NetDrive to WebDAV to my synology NAS with no problem with the old Aciontec MI424WR.  But I can't connect via WebDAV to NAS after replacing with the new G3100 from Verizon?  I have the ports forwarded to 5005 and 5006.  Can connect to Synology DSM from remote, but not WebDAV.

Any idea?

I plugged the ethernet from my ONT directly into my Google Nest Router and I am no longer using my G3100.  Is the G3100 required for 1 gig?  Google Wifi says I am running at 100 Mb.

Disney+

I turned on my Fios home internet service on Jan 13, 2020 and was told I got the 12 months free Disney+ offer. I did not receive any email telling me how to activate the offer. Online chat Verizon assistant told me to activate through My Fios app. I did. I did not see Verizon subscription under my Disney+ account. I need pay if I want to use after the free trial days. I contacted Verizon and they said I had already enrolled Disney+. Disney+ said they did not find my information. They need the Verizon reference number to locate my account. I had online chatted and called Verizon more than 10 times in the past several days and still cannot get the code or any help. I feel totally desperate.

Nothing happens when clicking on Network(Home/Office)

Hello,

I recently had Fios installed. I have the G3100 router. Whenever I log in and go to the Network tab, first off there is no Primary Network. Secondly when I go to Network Connections nothing happens when I click Network(Home/Office) or the edit link next to it. When I click the Broadband Connection it takes me to the properties page and it is disable as I would suspect, however, the Network(Home/Office) does nothing.

I am trying adjust some network settings so I can add my server to the network.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

ONT Ethernet to Router Help

Hi all,

I moved into my house last year and have a Gig connection. Couldn’t help but notice none of my hard-wired devices ever peaked past 250 mbps but when using Verizon’s Speedtest I’m getting 900 up and down to the ONT presumably.

My ONT in the garage has an ethernet port but the green cat6 cable that goes to this weird multi jack that twists into a grey cat6 cable about 25 feet through the wall and into the router. I’m suspecting the long cat6 is giving me problems as I’ve noticed a 90 degree bend along the wire.

This is probably a dumb question but I haven’t seen the answer anywhere - but If I replaced the whole thing with a cat6 cable directly from the ONT to the router should that be ok? I assume it would be. I’ve attached a picture for reference

Thanks in advanced.
