We used to have the option to hook up to our Wifi Fios 2.4 or 5G on our devices. Then we received a message to allow the router to decide which option was best for that device. When we go upstairs or move about our house the wifi on our phones will shut down for a period of time. The router is upstairs and extender is downstairs. What can we do to get this to level out and have consistent coverage about the house?
Fios wi-fi on device disconnects when I move about my house
E3200 Extender Blinking White Light
I installed the E3200 Extender to extend the coverage from my G3100 router and everything went smoothly. The Extender seems to be working fine and I can log into the E3200 and see devices that are assigned to it when they're close and the signal strength is significantly improved. I kept the default settings since it's working fine as far as I can tell. But . . . it has been blinking white for 24hrs. The manual states that blinking white means "Fios Home Wi-Fi Extender is booting" and that's all it says.
What should I do? Is something wrong? Let it keep blinking? Please help
Use of External Hard Drive
I have a G1100 router and FIOS TV. I would like to attach an external USB 2.0/3.0 hard drive to my network.
Can this be done?
Help Needed: Nest WiFi Issues
Hi all,
I was having some connectivity issues with my Nest camera and was advised to purchase a WiFi extender. After doing some research I decided to go with a mesh router instead and purchased the Google Nest router with one point.
I followed the instructions in this thread and followed all 7 steps, but when I plug the Nest router in, the little globe icon on my Verizon router flashes white for about a minute or so before it turns red and I'm not able to connect. I tried unplugging and replugging things in, waiting several minutes in between, but that doesn't seem to work.
Also, my ethernet cable that was connected to the WAN port on the Verizon router goes into the floor and into the basement. I tried connecting that cable directly into my Nest router, and while it looked like it was working for a moment (I was able to finish the setup steps on the Google Home app), in the end it didn't work either, and I wasn't able to connect.
I don't know if I've even succeeded in explaining this well, but I really hope someone can help. I don't understand a lot of the terms I'm seeing in some of the threads. I have Verizon for internet, TV, and phone. Please let me know what other information is needed or if you think I should just return the Nest router and go with a different option. My tire was recently slashed in my driveway but because the connectivity on the camera was so bad, it most likely missed this happening, which is why I got into trying to fix this in the first place.
Thanks for reading and any help is greatly appreciated.

Why did verizon release such a bad router G3100
I probably should have done more reading.. or taken the negative reports about the G3100 more seriously.
Since getting this router a couple days ago it randomly drops connections like others have observed.. the light goes to a beige color.. and within a couple minutes starts working again.. but it's long enough to disconnect everyone in the house.
I was not experiencing this issue before, and nothing else has changed with my fios environment, i just wanted a new router.. previously i was restarting my old router every couple weeks, and it was just generally too slow.
I have noticed so far, that this happens when i'm connected to my work VPN.
and the only messages in the log that appear to be even remotely relevant are about DNS bind attacks.. but it doesn't say anything about rebooting or dropping connection
Has Verizon acknowledged these issues? this is a $300 router.. i really expected it to work better
New G3100 router and now older laptop cannot see network
after the new Router is up and running my older laptop cannot even see my home wifi network, it see the neighbors and my wireless printer but it does not show my wifi name....any ideas?
unable to connect certain websites (possibly from the area I live)
Any devices connect to my network were unable to reach the following website (and possibly some other websites),
https://laravel-admin.org/docs/ since last November 2019. It used to work before that.
I did not modify any settings of the router.
As long as I changed to other internet service providers (AT&T, Spectrum, etc.) I was able to access the website without any issues. The company I worked for had the exact issue with Verizon, but my friends who lived slightly far way from where I lived had no problem with Verizon. Any suggestion would be helpful.
The company and where I live both locate in Flushing Queens NY. I wonder if anyone has the similar problem like me.

Wired Remote Desktop Connection Win 10 Pro No Longer Works with G3100
With parents and kids homebound I attempted to enhance our internet connectivity by upgrading our Verizon Fios G1100 router with the new G3100 unit. From my home office where the router resides, I primarily work on my desktop and use the remote desktop connection to two closed laptops (all wired with Win 10 Pro) so I can use one set of keyboard, mouse, and monitors while the rest of the household uses the wireless connection. This worked flawlessly with the G1100 for months and initially with the G3100 for the first few days until it didn't and started getting connection errors.
I was able to get to tech support in the router group and we went through the usual diagnostics including testing port forwarding to/from 3389 and DMZ Host to no avail. Although the firmware listed on the back of the router was v 1.3.6.4, I could see that v 1.3.6.27 was actually installed. The tech said I should call back when tech support reopens on Monday and request v 1.5.x.x that is better configured to handle remote desktop. It is my understanding only tech support can push this new firmware and the self reboot will not do it.
In other weirdness, I noticed the router's confirmed MAC address ending in ":c6" was listed as ":c7" within Windows.
I reinstalled the G1100 and the remote desktops connected immediately. I'll report back the fix.
Network extenders (WCB3000N) boot looping
I have a G1100 router and 2 WCB3000N network extenders. I've had this setup with 1 extender for a few years. I added the second extender a year ago, and it's been working fine up until recently.
In the past couple of weeks, both network extenders are continuously boot looping. Meaning they will connect, then power cycle, then connect, then power cycle. Unplugging and replugging does not resolve.
Both network extenders bootloop even with the coax disconnected. Seems unlikely that both extenders would go bad at the same time.
I tried factory resetting the extenders, but given that they don't stay on very long between reboots, I'm not sure the reset is taking hold.
Any ideas on why this is happening?
Yahoo.verizon email stopped working
Yahoo.verizon email stopped working around 3/16/2020. This was a gluiness hybrid that Verizon came out with a while ago. incoming.yahoo.verizon.net outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net I've come to ecpect over the years that verizon and yahoo play dumb when there is an issue with that server. But now it's don't even bring up the issues because moderators consider it inappropriate to ask. Well I guess for $300 a month expecting help on a 15 year old email address is pushing the limits. Bad me!
G1100: cannot get port forwarding to work except for VPN
I configured my router in the past for remote VPN, it works fine. Now I'm trying to add a Plex server (port 32400) and cannot get it to work no matter how much hair I pull out of my head.
I set the security to low, as was suggested somewhere else (it was medium):
Now add the rule. I tried 32400 -> 32400, nothing, so tried 32399 -> 32400 to try something else. Using an external service the port doesn't respond (https://www.canyouseeme.org). I ran a port scanner on my LAN, 32400 shows up TCP. So I added another rule to see if https was there:
Here is the attempt to get to 443:
What is just so crazy is that the VPN works! I unchecked the four boxes in the forwarding table, then Applied them, then tried again: VPN connect from iPhone on cellular data. So they do work, they just don't work for 32400 / 32399.
I read the manual section on Port Forwarding. I poked around in every setting on the Router I could find. Something is obviously wrong as no matter what I do I cannot get packets to flow.
Pointers would be most welcome!
Can VZ activate gigabit w/out coming out
I pulled the trigger and switched to gigabit internet from 100/100, just internet service nothing else. Can verizon activate/provision the gigabit service from the central station or do they need to come out to activate/provision. Currently I have the I211M-L ONT. My online account still says I have 100/100. I have plugged in my laptop directly to the ONT and the laptop indicates "no ethernet service". The ONT has green lights lit for MoCA, POTS, MGMT, NTWK, DATA and PWR. Not lit for VID, FAIL and BAT.
I called customer service and 1x the rep said they can take care of it on their end and it would take 24hrs. After 2 days and still see 100/100 on my account, I called again and this rep said they needed to send a tech out to my house to activate/provision gigabit service. But do to covid 19, they can't give me a date as to when.
I'm confused does my I211M-L ONT need to be replaced? or can activation/provisioning be done at the Verizon station? Am I getting the run around?
Upgraded speed and got slow speed
I had the 15 mbs with free router, and wanted to upgrade to 75 mbs. I was not told i had to upgrade my router which will cost $299 or a monthly rental fee. I was not able to get 75 down, but got less than 4 mbs (was getting 15 before). When I went though help they told me i had to replace my router.
I would prefer to go back to 15/15 and keep my free router, but I'm being forced get the router to "fix" a problem only relating to upgrading to 75/75.
This is very frustrating. i would not have gone to 75\75 if I knew it required a new router cost.
I don't believe the lag (from 22ms to 56ms) and loss of speed has anything to do with my router. I believe I have been manulipated into upgrading without reason.
Improper / sloppy wire burial
Crews came out and buried my new line. They did a fine job in my yard, however in the area inside my neighbors yard there is two feet of cable just sticking upward out of the ground ready to be cut by a mower. My neighbor came over today and showed me. Who do I contact to get the crew to come back to properly finish the job?
COVID workathome problems with wifi coverage
I'm lucky I guess that I can work from home. But this apartment wasn't set up for it. Weak wifi at one end and now 3 homeworkers here. Is mesh networking the solution? The FIOS "Gateway" is now connected with a TP link, but that has proven spotty. A mesh system? Another router? Take out the FIOS gateway and put in some other modem+router? I was not made for this stuff. Thanks.
How does the ONT get provisioned incorrectly?
Current situation. Speedtest produced correct results for my gigabyte plan. Called in to change my services and since then I have only been able to get 25mbps download but correct upload speed. When I call suport they basically reboot the ONT and then decide they need to send a tech to my house, which they won't do for a couple months because of coronavirus.
Asking around online, since my speed locked at 25mbps at the exact same time as I changed my plan, others I have spoken too seem to think my ONT is provisioned incorrectly. How does that happen? It seems to happen a lot if you look online but with computers how does it happen? With computers shouldn't it be pretty much correct all the time?
Worst customer service (escalation department) I have ever received.
I am not certain who to reach out to regarding this matter but I am completely appalled by the service I have received by Verizon reps. I was sold a deal by a verizon sales rep and I viewed, verified, and confirmed the services and price SEVERAL times in person, via email, and via text message push notification. On the day my service was installed, I was charged for a wifi router rental when the sales rep said several times this would be waived and the emails of services i received verified this. I went to him to ask why this was incorrect- of course, he could no longer help me. This is the first issue- your sales reps deliberately misrepresenting services and costs. Then, after several long phone calls to customer service, I was transferred to a supervisor that was able to implement a monthly credit for me for 6 months to honor the price i was quoted and agreed to. She said I had to call in 6 months later to ensure this credit continued because she wasn't able to continue it for longer than that. I talked to someone from Escalations today who said that this was FALSE and that actually she could have continued it for longer and she wrote in my notes it was 6 months maximum. This raises the second issue- calls need to monitored because it sounds like escalation department reps are falsely conveying information to customers. More so, I spoke to April from the state of MA today who was beyond rude to me as a customer- was not able to help me and said that I was basically lying about everything I had said even though she agreed with me that I was initially misquoted. Complete waste of my time- this is my 4th or 5th call 6 months later dealing with the same issue. Really in shock that a company like Verizon is providing this kind of service. I have previously only had RCN for wifi and honestly if it was available in my area, I'd choose them in a heartbeat soley for their customer service. I do hope this message reaches the correct department because in my history of speaking to customer service reps, managers, supervisors, etc, I have never once received this kind of degrading service. At the very least, not even a gesture of goodwill to retain me as a customer. All I want is the price that I was quoted, agreed to, and confirmed. And I have gone through hours of customer service calls with no avail. Completely disheartened and appalled by this kind of service.
Help with PLEX server issues
Hi
I'm trying to get my Plex server accessible outside of my network, and I'm running into issues.
I have a FIOS G-1100 router, and I'm getting a "Not available outside your network" error in my Plex Remote Access page.
It occasionally will work, but other times won't.
I had a friend try to set up some port forwarding, but it didn't fix it, so I'm hoping to find a guide or something, as this can't be that much of a non-standard thing.
Thanks in advance!
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER
Verizon Fios has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life! Signed up for fios recently with the “promo” of Disney+ Free for a year. Still haven’t been able to redeem this offer almost 2 months later. Have spoken to about 6 different people by this point about it. All of whom give me a different story. Have been promised on 2 different occasions now that a supervisor would return my call....... still waiting. My issue was supposedly “escalated” and was supposed to be solved April 3........ still waiting. DON’T be coerced into Fios by their deals or promotions....you won’t be able to redeem them anyhow
FIOS G3100 Router - External VPN Issues
I recently "upgraded" to the FIOS G3100 Router from the FIOS Quantum Router (due to a move) and can no longer VPN to my work network. Below is a summary of the issue from my IT department.
Problem: Using and IPSec VPN connection to a Cisco firewall. After authentication, the firewall terminates the connection because the connection appears as a DoS attack. The logs show the following when connecting to the firewall:
2 Apr 06 2020 13:09:15 98.115.x.x x.x.x.x Deny IP teardrop fragment (size = 1480, offset = 0) from 98.115.x.x to x.x.x.x
Basically, the firewall is interpreting the connection as TearDrop DoS attack.
This works from other ISPs and the previous Fios connection. But under the new connection (and new router) the error occurs.
Any thoughts or advice on how to allow the FIOS G3100 Router to VPN externally would be appreciated.
