Fios G1100 and Unifi AP-AC-LR

My Fios router is in the basement and I do not want to try to figure out how to move it.  A couple years ago I purchased the Unifi AP-AC-LR and connected it via CAT5 (I do have drops upstairs in my house) and just set it up as its own wireless network.  It has worked great and I have wonderful coverage in my whole house and outside.  I am starting to use the Fios TV app more (ipads and phones) and since I am not connected to the Fios network, it does not let me watch all the channels - even though I am in my house.  Is there a way to setup the Unifi as more of an extender - or just another access point - but still off the main Fios G1100?  I am looking through the Unifi user guides, but do not see anything jumping out yet.

Same SSID on two routers

I finally have gotten my Actiontec WCB3000N up and running and was able to login and change password. It's in the basement.

I believe that I could change its SSID to match the SSID of my main modem/router (Actiontec Model MI424WR Rev. I ) in my kitchen.

 

If I do this, as I move around with my cell phone or take a computer from place to place, will those devices automatically switch from one WIFI to the other based on strongest signal?

Hello, 

I keep getting a noaccess.verizon.com redirect when I visit websites online.  This just started yesterday and i have been calling customer support but just on hold. This is really frustrating. Its not a billing situation like previous post, can someone help?

Equipment Return - need a label

I purchased a new router that came today (Model G3100).  I want to return my old Verizon router that I have been renting from Verizon for a long time.  There is no return label in the box and I can't seem to get a hold of anyone on the phone.  I waited an 1:06 and then got disconnected.  Frustrating.

 

What is the process for returning my old router?  What is the process for ensuring that I am no longer billed for the old router rental without using the phone to contact customer support?

I currently am on the 100/100 plan, connected through coax (MoCA) and using an Actiontec MI424WR router.  I would like to upgrade to 200 mbps but was told I would need a technician to come to the house and that I could not get a technician to come during the pandemic.

If my router (or ideally a new router) was connected to the ONT via ethernet cable instead of coax, could I get upgraded without having a technician having to come to the house. (I have a I-211M-L ONT.)

I can easily run ethernet cable from the ONT to my router but I am unable to reach anyone in Fios Technical Support to coordinate the timing of the changeover.

Alternatively, can I improve performance by switching from coax to ethernet, even without an upgrade form my 100/100 plan? Thanks.

Self install

I ordered gigabit service today, and I was hoping to do a self install. When I married my wife, I moved into her house. She said she had FiOS years ago, but there is no Verizon ONT box in the basement. The only thing I see in the basement, is a coax cable with another wire that is zip tied to it, and the end is cut off that wire. I'm guessing the ONT box was removed then?


FIOS G1100 - Internet cuts out after 2 to 3 hours

My FIOS internet worked perfectly for years. Suddenly, internet began cutting out - both ethernet and wifi. Had to perform a hard reboot. Same problem. Verizon replaced router. Same problem. I performed a factory reset. Same problem. I think there must be a setting that I'm missing. Any ideas as to how to fix this problem?

G1100 to Fios Network Extender

So I just ordered the Fios network extended (actiontec wcb6200q)..

I didn’t know this, but as many of y’all may know, setup requires Connection through coax.. I want to hook this up in my basement where signal is spotty. Don’t judge me for this, but I thought I’d be able to use a coax cable running into my DISH box in my basement for the network extender. I then found out that it wouldn’t work, so I followed where this coax cable went to outside of my house, and it ended up being right next to my Fios ONT box. I unplugged it from the DISH splitter and connected it directly to the ONT box, then plugged it back into the network extender. I also noticed that my gateway router on the second floor is connected to ONT through Ethernet.. why doesn’t my coax light come on if the extender is connected directly to ONT box outside?

G3100 and G3200 using MoCA

I have a G3100 connected to the ONT via ethernet and coax.  I am trying to get a G3200 extender working via MoCA.  Is this possible?  On the G3200 I get a solid yellow light on the front.  The Coax light on the back is solid green.  The coax line I am using works for Fios STB.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

chrome book won't connect to wifi

I was given an Acer chrome book model #N15Q8.  it is preset to Comcast infinity and I cannot figure out how to reset  to access my Fios wifi account.  Where would I find the reset button?

Returning FIOS equipment

I have some equipment to return (set-top boxes, router).

 

I called a UPS store to find out what the procedure is, and they weren't sure whether I am supposed to pack the items (and should have a return label provided by Verizon) or if I should just drop off the equipment.

 

Due to the lack of a clear answer, I don't want to do the wrong thing and then end up being charged for the equipment.

 

I also tried calling the only Verizon store in this area that is listed on their Web site as handling equipment returns, but always get a busy signal. Are Verizon stores open now?

 

Ideally, I would like to get a receipt listing serial numbers, etc. for the items I'm returning. Do UPS stores provide that?

No speed upgrade options available?

I was thinking about upgrading my current 75/75 to something faster, and wanted to get an idea of the cost of different speed options on-line before chatting or calling to make any changes.

 

If I click on "More Speeds" in "Pick your internet services", the only thing displayed is "Less Speeds". This is in spite of "Help me choose" listing seven different options, through Gigabit.

 

For background, I recently switched from Verizon's router connected via the coax port on the ONT to my own router connected via Ethernet. If anything, this should have made higher speeds more available.

 

Also, just for the sake of experimentation, if I add a Verizon router, the Web site suggests two higher speed options, and allows them to be selected, however, "Pick your internet services" still doesn't show any options.

 

Is the Web site broken, or are they not accepting speed upgrades during the pandemic?

Fios-G1100 5GHZ no internet connection

All of a sudden by 5GHZ cannot keep an internet connection. 2G works just fine. If I power cycle the router, or I disable and then re-enable 5G in router setup, the 5G internet will work for 1 minute, the it disappears again.

 

What idea how to fix?  Is my router dead?


TraceRT broken?

Does anyone know of a Windows work around for the broken TraceRT? It seems to limit everything to 2 hops. Only effects Windows devices. The traceroute via my router's diagnostic works fine. Problem didn't happen when same router was on Cox ISP. Here is what it looks like when I traceRT google.com:

Have G3100 router, want to replace with G1100. Will I lose any cable service features?

I currently have a G3100 router for my FiOS service. I want to buy a second hand G1100 router and replace the G3100.

 

Obviously I'll lose whatever features the G3100 router offers for wifi and internet connectivity, however, will I lose any features for the cable service, such as guide data/menus or other features?

DHCP issue with personal router

Had to reset my ONT, and as a result my ASUS AC3200 won't talk with the ONT. I plugged the ethernet cable into the desktop and connection. How do I reset my DHCP lease?

Can't Forward Ports on Fios G1100

G1100 router, I've made the rules for both UDP and TCP for Any ->7777 and 27015 (setting up dedicated Ark server), the firewall security settings are at low, UPnP is off, I've set up the port forward rules for the router itsself and made specific ones for the host PC as well, I've made rules in my windows firewall for these ports as well. I've tried setting the host as DMZ to no avail, as well as setting a static NAT with specific port forwarding enabled the same way (not all at the same time, different attempts as different setups)

 

Doing all this and running ShieldsUP I am able to get these ports from 'closed' to 'stealth' but still any other port checker just says closed and I can not see the server I'm trying to host (which is 99.9% certainly set up and running correctly) but regardless I'm still having trouble with these ports showing as stealth or sometimes when I run the scan they will alternate closed and stealth randomly... Banging my head against the wall, my brother who lives 10 minutes away with the same service is forwarding with no issues but he's running pFsense direct from the ONT so it's a bit different there. Any other ideas anyone? Please and thankyou!

We contracted with Verizon Fios on April 11th for 200/200 Mbps internet speed at a cost of $39.99 a month. It has been a battle to get service turned on even though we have a working ONT box in our apartment with full connectivity and a direct-wired fiber optic line into the ONT box. They claim that they can't find the circuit associated with the box. On top of that, they have used a different excuse as to why they can't activate service every time I call (about 4 times a day for the last 10 business days for approx 4-6 hours a day, basically a full-time job to GIVE them my business).  Now they want me to downgrade my speed to 50/10 Mbps at a cost of $69.99 a month and charge me a $99.00 installation fee even though the equipment is already installed.
