My Internet connection is slow in 2.4 GHz band, but faster in 5 GHz.

We had a new Fios set up a week ago. Our connection is 100/100. Router we are using is Verizon Fios G-1100. Today, we were experiencing very loe speeds on 2.4 GHz. When I did a speed test on both, 2.4 GHz gave a speeds of 4Mbps/1Mbps, while on 5 GHz I am getting a full of 100Mbps/100Mbps. Why is this happening?

Shockingly Bad Service!

I am a longtime FIOS customer.  I am moving to a new house, and a couple of weeks ago submitted a transfer request to the new address.  I received an order confirmation, an installation date/time, and even took the time to upgrade my services.  This week, when I attempted to confirm the time for the installation, I was informed that the order doesn't exist, the request doesn't exist, and that nobody can tell me what happened.  I have now had 5 phone calls and chats with Verizon support staff, none of whom have been able to unwind this mistake, and NONE of whom have offered to fix the issue.  So, I'm basically left without any knowledge of my transfer request or options.  This experience has been astonishingly bad and abusive of my time and good faith.

FIOS ONT new installation what to expect?

$

Hi!

I'm hoping someone out there may have an answer or two. I'm having FIOS Internet and phone service installed in my condo unit in about a week from now. Verizon has already shipped the router and battery back up for what I believe is the ONT.

A little history here. My condo is part of multi dwelling building, of which i'm on the botton floor.  Ducting for FIOS was installed throughout the complex about 4 years ago. My unit is ajcent to the main utility room were the FIOS" hub" is housed.
My upgrade is both welcomed and needed as Verizon will be discontinuing servicing of copper lines leading into the complex sometime next year.

Since the fiber lines coming in connect to a "hub" in the utilty room will an ONT need to be installed in my unit? I realize I've been provided a battery back up, but I just want to be sure.

If an ONT needs to be installed in my Unit, outside of being near an outlet where should one consider placing it? If the location of the ONT isn't that important I'll most likely keep it in the bedroom where the computer resides.

I need to install some form of wire ducting before intallation, how many lines can i expect to be concealing and what type of lines, ethernet, coaxial, phone?

I have been told with FIOS Phone the existing copper phone wires will still be utilized. That being said, would the ONT be carring the internet signal or would the FIOS internet line be coming from the "hub" in the utiltiy room?

I realize these question my seem a little disjointed, but I'm new to this so any clarificaiton would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

FIOS Installation

I just had FIOS installed this past sunday, Dec. 23rd and I live on the second floor of a two story condominium. While the technician did the install, he did not run the fiber optic cable through the conduit or tubes that were installed by a verizon contractor. Because he said there was no pull string in the conduit. So he ran the exposed fibre optic line along the exterior of this condominium building, just hanging in the air and accross shrubbery & it just looks absolutley horrible. The condo association is up in arms as to when this is going to be addressed. But I can not get an answer from Verizon. They said that the contractor who installed the tubing would have to come back to install the pull wire. But I just can not get an answer from any one when this is supposed to happen. The condo association as well as myself are only asking for a date as to when this is supposed to happen. Or they will remove the FIOS line themselves. I can't seem to get anywhere with Verizon on this. Any help besides saying its only temporary would be appreciated. Temporary for how long.?

Fios Connection Issues

Ever since I moved to my new apartment in NYC and signed up with Verizon FioS Gigabit Internet, it has literally been miserable trying to get a month of solid service. Over the past four months, I've had a cumulative total of more than 10 days without service. Each time, they say it's a different issue and that some cable was cut as they delay and delay the estimated repair time.

For context, there is a lot of construction around me right now, where they are demo'ing a building across from me and then building a new one. Considering that colleagues of mine have not had a day of interrupted service, it can be concluded that the local construction is damaging Verizon's wires. What I cannot begin to comprehend is that Verizon is doing nothing about this situation. Whatever that crew is doing, they keep damaging the wires time and time again, even destabilizing the connection when it does go through. Yet Verizon hasn't done anything about it, and the issue keeps on happening.

Whenever the connection goes down, it usually leads to me calling/messaging them asking when it will be repaired. Without fail, every time I'm told it will be repaired ASAP in the morning when they send the crew. And again without fail, every morning they "send" a crew out that cannot access the site because construction is there. Of course the construction crew is there the entire day, then the night rolls around and then the technician team is no longer on the clock. Rinse and repeat, and now the days without service is understandable.

So all in all, either deal with the construction crew that seems to be damaging your wires (assuming this is true, because otherwise the technicians just simply aren't properly installing wires at all in the first place which is a larger issue), or figure out a way around this because this is getting way out of hand. Moreover, I know for a fact that this issue plagues ~50 customers to the point where it's probably worth informing building management.

Since yesterday, I am unable to watch Netflix and Youtube videos anymore. I have tested different devices:

Netflix

All iPhone, Macbook pro and Apple TV cannot play netflix videos. It says:

"Internet Connection Problem

An internet of home network connection problem is preventing playback...

Erro Code: M7037-1101"

YouTube

Using iPhone Youtube App, I can search for and browse videos but not play.

On Macbook Pro, I can play youtube videos. The loading seems a bit slower than before.

Other Streaming Video provider:

I can play dailymotion without a problem.

I have reboot my Quantum Gateway G1100 rounter. It did not help.

For the speed testing, the results look okay.

Service connection frustrations

I'm dealing with a strange issue with Verizon which is really leaving a bad taste in my mouth as a new customer.

I ordered FiOS gigabit via the website and scheduled an install for the 15th, as there was no self-install option provided. Meanwhile, the geniuses at the cable company disconnected my service a week earlier than they should have.

I already have an Alcatel-Lucent ONT installed in my home from previous service like two or so years ago and a G1100 modem. As far as I can tell, technically, I am ready for service to be turned up, no tech required.

And yet, the woman I spoke to at customer support INSISTS that a tech has to come to my home no earlier than the 12th to perform the install. She was unable to explain why, saying "Oh, they may need to replace the ONT" but when I tried to provide information about my specific ONT, she had no idea. She *actually suggested* that I call back the cable company to restore service with them in the meantime.

Is there any higher level group that I can reach to assist me with this problem before I give up and call the cable company? Suggesting to customers that they restore service with your competitor doesn't strike me as an effective customer service resolution. At this point, I am considering cancelling the whole FiOS install and not coming back.

The past several days our internet (Centreville, VA)  has been occasionally slow and sometimes not available.

When I go into my Verizon Router System log starting Dec. 6th I see repeated Coax Down Coax Up messages every day.

Does this indicate an external Verizon issue?

Thanks

I have a Skype for business account that won't connect when i am at home.  I can use a laptop at home that won't connect, take that laptop to work and it connects just fine.  when it does not connect, it references Microsoft KB2566790.  that mentions adding DNS records, etc.  i kind of get what it is suggesting, i have no idea where to add them.  is this a regular problem with Skype and Verizon?  what is the solution to this to get this working?

FIOS WCB6200Q Routing Issues

$

I had Quantam Gatway for 2 years and never had any issues. I just added the WIFI WCB6200Q Exteder few days ago. I used WPS to sync the WFI extender with MAIN Router and after adding the WIFI extender, I am having the following issue:

I can not ping certain IP addresses on my home network

I can not see certain IP addreses in WIFI extender's Status page

Radio is turned off on Main router so all WIFI devices are using WIFI Extender to get IP address (DHCP) and to connect.

I CAN TEST Connectivity to all devices from the MAIN router's interface and they all seem to be connected.

I am thinking that the WIFI Extender is having problem finding certain IP devices (routing).

Any suggestions?

returning old router

Got a slightly dated router, VZ tech upgraded my service a year ago and said instructions would follow on returning the old router for credit.   Never got guidance. Have the router in front of me. Value in returning for credit, secondary market, or what?

BTW, highly amused this "community" is much more readily apparent than actual online help from VZ.
